This morning I've been thinking Art. I once sat in a lovers bedroom while she took half an hour to make one brush stroke to her painting that looked to me like a stylised Eye of Sauron or artistic anus. You can't really say that though to a lover. I'm also not saying I dislike anus, they have their charms. Half an hour to make a brush stoke seems excessive, but she did it with such meditation like a release of tension and it was as if I had been invited into a temple. However I knew I didn't see what she did which wasn't through a lack of insight or intelligence which is probably how she saw it. The reality is in the end I just could not relate to what she saw no matter how steamy it was.
What is possibly the oldest known rock art comes from the Tibetan Plateau dating back around 169-226,000 years ago. In my backyard, the oldest rock art in Australia is some 17,300 years old painting of a kangaroo. That is a bloody long time and our brains are not really equipped to deal with it only really being able to comprehend numbers like the number of likes on a 12 year old's TikTok. But across the wreckage of time it is just the tip of a whole lineage of humans of the genus homo originating around 2.8 million years ago given current understanding. While there is no real evidence of it I like to think that for most of this time humans have been making art which carries a symbolism beyond function.
Art is really in everything we do - from the messages we deliver in the way we dress, sexy sexy BDSM Jesus adorning most Christian churches barely modest in strategically placed loin cloth, the font used on this website, or the face we make in our kids mash potato's. With art being subjective, I've learnt that sometimes arseholes can be more sexy than BDSM Jesus even when they artistically take 30 mins to put one dab on a painting!
I've been thinking a lot about AI and what it means for art. The images I use on this site are mostly AI generated - (but wix image generator won't let me create an eye that looks like someone's butthole or even just a harmless shirtless man with a halo. I had to go elsewhere.) Is there a certain art in the query which creates it (maybe?). I'm not really going to debate the ethics right now as AI is here whether we like it or not, but is AI just another tool like a brush or is it wholesale plagiarism? I mean we take influence whether we like it or not. But it seems to me that AI puts an upper limit on human creativity. Will it devalue human expression? IDK. I get the feeling that in future true human art will all be in the imperfection, though no doubt AI would also 'learn this'. The Japanese have known this forever and have the concept of wabi-sabi which is about appreciating the beauty of imperfection.
Writing is kind of one of my art and I really want to embrace the imperfection. It is part of my voice. I never use something like AI or Grammarly and even limit my use of spell checks (you probably noticed this). Not because I feel somehow morally smug and put it above those that do, but because that is an expression of my art (I get that imperfection can get in the way of delivering my intended message to grammar thugs). My friend who taught me to smith knives said that it's ok to leave some forge marks in your work and in some ways it is preferable. I see the wisdom of it. It shows the hand of the creator and I've learnt in my blacksmithing journey that chasing perfection actually leads to failure in your art - and hours of work broken and warped on the floor of the workshop. But perfection is art too and their is beauty in form from function. How you do art is up to you. If I were to formally publish this stuff you can be sure it will be well edited. Being edited by another skilled human makes it better - it's one of the things about being a collaborative species with our range of unique perspectives, stronger together. This is partly why I created this site. Maybe others will find art in it. Maybe others can be a part of this creative process before the final product. Maybe it will make people feel brave enough to be vulnerable to create and share their own imperfect creations. If nothing else I hope you learn that it's ok to not understand a lover that lets you watch her make a stroke like it were the religious reverent rapture of watchin sexy sexy BDSM Jesus get lashed, giving him a drink of wine from a sponge, then cleaning his dead corpse, deliciously draping his body in cloth and late ravenously devouring his flesh and blood with your loved ones to experience the ecstasy of the transformation of water and wine in symbolic cabalism remembrance. It's all fucking art my beautiful mother fuckers. .... and one for the ladies....

AI has inbuilt "moral" limitations. Or you did not use the proper keywords. You may try: imagine a butthole that looks like Donald Trump's eye.
You never know.
Donald Trump
Yo.
